費加洛報（Le Figaro）報導，一名住在法國北部特隆（Trelon）的八旬婦人近日收到一封遲到138年的信，上面的寄發日期是1877年1月27日，收件人是她的曾祖父，當年是一家羊毛紗廠的負責人。
這封信保存得非常完好，內容是要求她的曾祖父及合夥人儘快出貨。信裡還寫著，寄件人會等待出貨通知，但想必沒有等到。
根據報導，信件是從鄰村寄出，距離收件地址僅10公里，卻花了138年才抵達。
郵務單位解釋，這封信於1877年蓋銷了兩次，意味當年曾經送達，然後又再被寄送一次，是很少見的狀況。
報導說，目前郵件遲到最久的紀錄保持是在法國南部小鎮賽克斯（Seix），2010年，一名當地居民收到一封1790年寄發的信，也就是法國大革命隔年，晚了220年才送到收件人手中。
